Wollongong Interdata 6th Edition Unix

Sixth Edition Unix was ported to the Interdata 7/32 at the University
of Wollongong, Australia during 1976-77. Porting the C compiler and
operating system kernel, writing device drivers and an assembler for
the 32-bit Interdata architecture, and adaptation of most commands was
done by Richard Miller. Other work on commands and subroutine
libraries was done by Ross Nealon. The project was supervised by
Professor Juris Reinfelds.

Distribution Contents

This is a distribution of "Release 1.2" made on 3 June 1979. The
original 9track 1600bpi tape held three files, which are gzipped
here as:

boot.tp.gz
a bootable 'tp' format archive containing Interdata Unix kernels
configured for Wollongong, Sydney (Sydney University or UNSW?)
  and Oxford (Programming Research Group)

root.gz
a binary image of the root filesystem on a 5 megabyte disk, in
Interdata 6th edition Unix format (like PDP-11 6th edition format,
but with ints byte-swapped and expanded to 32 bits); includes
copies of the kernels and boot block from the first tape file,
  and kernel source in /usr/sys

src.tp.gz
  a 'tp' format archive containing command source and manual pages;
besides the original Bell Labs and Wollongong source there are
contributions from Melbourne University and various USENIX
distribution tapes, adapted as appropriate for the Interdata

For convenience, the distribution contents are also supplied as:

interdata_v6.tar.gz
a 'tar' format archive (with dates preserved) of all files as
they would appear after installing the distribution, with source
and documentation in /usr/source and /usr/doc respectively; note
however that special files in /dev appear as ordinary files
