how to avoid paying $35 for 35k email to Europe (not *THAT* difficult, really)

before anyone spends 35$ for receiving $35 of email, why don't you consider
getting an account on a US public access machine and pick up your email from
there with a direct-modem call? a call of minutes at most... or is that too
expensive also?  make a net-friend in the US who sends you a floppy snail
mail ...
