Sort bug causes data loss

  Several people have told me to use the -b option on the sort. That
doesn't work. I thought I posted the test script with this option set,
but I didn't. Adding -b to the two sort commands does not change the
behavior on any machines to which I have access.

  Sure saves on disk space, though ;-)
