Ethernet connections

The following has been received from Bushey.  May I suggest you do not
send any mail outside this network from late Friday 6th until Monday
morning, when the services should be up and running again.

On Saturday, 7th June 1986, air conditioning maintenance will be carried
out on the Bushey site. The expected time to perform this maintenance is
24 hours, from 08.00 hrs Saturday to 08.00hrs Sunday UK time.

As we will be without air-conditioning for such prolonged period, we
will have to shutdown our network communications equipment whilst the
maintenance is carried out.

Therefore the following services provided by International Network
Services will not be available during this time:

Internetwork Routing Service - IRS from Bushey
Data network into the IDC mainframe - there will not be any mainframe
service
Data Network to Xerox Webster - Timesharing (TIMS) and XPN
Hermes - Rank Xerox private Telex Network
Intelnet - Rank Xerox private Telephone Network

Please let me know if you any any problems or queries regarding the
above.


I also learned yesterday that Aylesbury Ethernet connections will not be
available for some time.  No date has yet been given when all will be
well again.  This will also affect communications with Mitcheldean and
anyone needing information from File Drawers in Mitcheldean is advised
to arrange for it to be put to floppy and moved physically between
sites.
