56000 compilers

I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't have news nor mail access :-(
perhaps your timely replies will persuade his company of the error of
their ways!

Is there a group on the net for discussing DSP's? Does anyone know if
there are any third party C compilers for the Motorola 56000 processor?
Specifically is there a _working_ C compiler (the Motorola one isn't
exactly the last word in compiler excellence).

A working port of GCC would be extremely useful, but info on any commercial
products available _now_ would be appreciated.

(crossposted to comp.lang.c to stir those C gurus, gnu.gcc in case there is
GCC port, and comp.sys.next since they've got a 56000, so there must be some
way to program the beast! Please mail any replies, or if you must followup,
comp.misc is as good a place as any in the absence of a 56000/DSP specific
group).

Thanks in advance...
