I am a C instructor. I have received many requests from my students for
a list of C compilers for personal computers (such as the IBM PC, Atari,
Apple, etc.) I would like the following kinds of information about
compilers you have worked with or know about:

Vendor
ANSI C conformant?
Target machines
does it come with a debugger? lint?
does it have an integrated development environment (like Turbo C or
	Quick C)?
vendor added features such as graphics library
limitations (real as opposed to perceived)
anything else the student should or would like to know?

Please be as objective as possible. If there is something about the
compiler you don't like that you feel is important for the student to
know, make sure your objections are real. Also, if there was something
about the compiler that you liked because it simplified your work or
seemed well suited for your application, please include that information
as well. I don't think my students are interested in personal bias, but
they would be interested in potential problems/bonuses.

If a list such as this has been published, please give me a reference so
that I don't waste any more of your time asking for information that is
already available.

Please email your responses to me at

I will post a summary if one is requested. Thanks in advance!
