RISC compiler "Internal: out of tree space;"

Hi, I having problems with compilation of a "C" program on a DECstation
3100. The error I get is:

(ccom): foo.c, line 346: ccom: Internal: out of tree space; increase default
option: -Wf,-XNh1000
			)* tmp2;
            -------------------^

I have looked at the man cc(1) for the RISC compiler. The "-W" flag
appears to be for compiler development. I don't find mention of a "-X"
flag.

BTW, the line the compiler is complaining about is a long line
containing references to various members of nested structures.

So, can anybody explain this error? Can anybody suggest what I need to
do to compile this program?

Thanks in advance,
