Any academics interested in being nominated?

I just got my the Jan/Feb ;login: and was bothered to read that the
Nominating Committee basically picked an "all commercial" slate. This is not
in any way to denigrate their efforts, nor to cast any aspersions on any
of the nominees. (And yes, I realize I'm splitting hairs by considering
UCB a "corporation" and I don't what percentage of Bob Morris's time is
spent in the classroom versus the boardroom. :-)

If you know of any academic-types (graduate students, professors, staff,
etc.) who you think should be nominated, or if you would like to be
nominated yourself (and lack the ego :-), please drop me a line.

A nomination requires a written statement from the contender, which must
be endorsed by at least five current members. The deadline is February 26,
so there's not much time.

I will coordinate with prospective nominees, and round up enough
signatories, and pay for next-day delivery if things get that close
to the deadline.

If you can't get through to me by electonic mail, call me at work.
My number is, 617-873-3290, and I'm their during reasonable hours,
USA Eastern Time.

Again, I'm not faulting the past or prospective contributions of
anyone. I just want an academic alternative.
