Sorry if you've already seen this, I had some trouble creating the group.

There was little discussion about creating this group. All articles I
saw said that they thought it was a good idea, but weren't sure about
the choice of the name. I guess you could consider the choice
somewhat politically motivated. /usr/group/cdn is trying hard to
become a truly national organization representing the USERS and
VENDORS in the Unix market in Canada. I feel a forum where we can all
find out what others are doing can't help but be a positive step.

Again, I ask: If you have any ideas how /usr/group/cdn can help the
Canadian Unix community, please tell us. The marketing types are
pretty good at generating money, so ideas that require significant
(open to interpretation :-) money to be spent are certainly not to be
ruled out!

Some of the ideas I've had include:
  1) Speakers program - 2-4 times a year pay to have some well known
Unix people give talks in cities across the country.

  2) As more local groups become affiliated with us, improve
representation in the governance of the organization (including paying
expenses for board members to attend at least several meetings/year)

   3) Provide a more cohesive organization to represent the Unix
community (UUCP-net) in discussions with other networks about the
future of networking in Canada (by this I certainly don't mean to
imply replacing Rayan, but to add an organization behind him)

   4) Sponsor Unix shows in other places than Southern Ontario

Thanks for your time	../Dave
