3.51m and fast seeks

I just picked up Peter Fales fast seek driver from osu-cis.  Peter alludes
to the fact that the wd2010 step rate 14 speedup will "probably be included
in the next fixdisk".  Lenny Tropino asserts in his description of the
changes in the 3.51m fixdisk that the disk driver has "added step rate code
to permit other than 0" and "added identification of disk controller (WD2010
or WD1010)."

Can I assume that if I run 3.51m (+ 2010) that I automagically get the
benefits of the faster step rate 14 seeks?  If not, what is the best way
to make this happen? Use Peter's driver?  Please let me know.
