Hi Guy,
This is easy to do, but a little anoying in general.
If you are just changing numbers frequently, the best thing to
do is to have a "data" entry in your directory which you edit
often. There IS NO option similar to the manual voice connect
for data trafic from the console of the 7300. [prety stupid hua?]
If, on the other hand, you have to dial through some
non-automated swithcboard [i.e. manned by a little wet-ware (people) ;-)]
you will need the following: (I figgured this out for when we have
to do emergency matienence on our telephone switches. When the
T1 lines go down you have to have the opperator connect you manually)

First:	Because the phone manager is a real nusance when you try
to go outside it's projected uses you will have to connect
your handset directly to the wall. This will require some
sort of "T" tap [available at any Radio Shack or whatever]

Second:	Because the phone manager _requires_ tha there be a valid
number dialed at the begining of any "outgoing" data session
you will need to create a dummy entry in the dialer directory.
I suggest some name like "manual". You MUST give a phone
number, the best "number" to use is a single "#" as that
tone pair will neither spook modems or phone systems no matter
who makes them [at least to date]

The connect sequence goes like this:
1) Make shure the 7300 is ready to dial "data" on the approprate line.
2) Place the connection through the manual handset [the one on your
data line that DOES NOT go through your phone manager jack.
3) When you are connected to the modem, [I am assuming you are talking
to operators and shuch trickey things to make your connection
here. If you are not, than you should not be reading this],
"dail" the "manual" entry. by the time the pc grinds through
the setup, dial, and carrier routines about 15sec. may have
	passed so be brisk here
4) Hang up the "manual" phone handset.
5) Act nonschalant ;-) and go for it.

Rob.
