transcript and pyramid att troff

We have Adobe's Transcript package and would like to use the att universe
troff and friends (we would like to use psdit).  When we feed the att troff to
psdit we get a message saying that we need to specify the -Tpsc flags to troff.
When we specify the -Tpsc flag it says that can't open tables for that.  
The ptroff (ucb troff to postscript) works fine but does not understand 
pic and grap.

Does anyone have the att troff to transcript (psdit) working on OSx4.0?
