enp0: packet too small: length = 0 errors

An associate of mine has an IRIS 4D60GT connected to our network that
complains to its console "enp0: packet too small: length = 0" (or
something quite close to this).  The errors come in groups of many -
users of the system can no longer use their console windows.

It would seem that someone on the network is putting out bad packets,
except that none of the other systems on the network (Suns, IRIS,
Apollo) ever complain.

Does anyone have insight they'd care to share with me on this problem?
