/debug after backup

I just finished doing a total backup on our Personal Iris and when I do
a df I don't see /debug listed there anymore.  Does anybody know why, or
even if it has any significance?

Also, in which FM does SGI shows how to repartition the hard disk.  The
admistrator manual stops mid way through the explanation.
