Okay, the mystery is solved, just a recursion and no warnings.
The shell recursively tries to replace "su".
Thanks to those who answered ! I learned my lesson.
On SunOS it gave a warning, on Ultrix it just did not happen.
Oh yes, Unix is a standard :)
