Our group at the University of Chicago Geophysical Sci. Dept. needs to display
the output from global climate models. The output typically consists of
3D vector and scalar fields on a spherical grid evaluated at fixed time-step
intervals.

We need a way to display this (with option for stereo projection) using
animation and a database capable of handling both pixel data from satellites
and the fields from the models. The database must be optimized for large
amounts of data (multiple gigabytes).

Any suggestions for software products that offer these capabilities would
be appreciated.
