There has been some discussion of what some people would like to see
in Jot. High on some folk's wish list was a cut and paste function for Jot.

Well, it is in there if you know how to tease it out. The following was
discovered by trial and error. You Jot guys should have revealed this first!
This should be more obvious in the menus.

Load the cut/paste buffer with your REPLACEMENT pattern by clicking on
copy after you mark your region with what you want to replace.

Click on search, and enter your SEARCH pattern. Click on search to highlight
the first match. With the search pattern highlighted, click on paste.

Your search pattern will disappear and your replacement pattern will be in
the previously highlighted region.

Click on the search panel continue button to continue. It will highlight
the next search pattern found. Click on paste to replace.

Repeat till you are done.

Apparently, the highlighted region is in a different buffer from the
replacement buffer, and any highlighted region is removed if you enter
any characters, including a click from the paste menu item, which will replace
your highlighted search string.

This is in IRIX 3.3.1.
