Time for a FAQ list?

In article <1991May27.192352.24630 at garfield.cs.mun.ca>
harold at odie.cs.mun.ca (Harold Wareham(Todd)) asked:

| We are having problems with an EXABYTE-8200 hooked up to an SGI-4D/360
| running SGI UNIX version 3.3.1. Specifically, we cannot read or write
| an EXABYTE tape using the command DD; however, we can create and read
| tapes using the command TAR. [ ... ]

I've sent him a (helpful, I hope!) reply. However ...

This sort of question seems to pop up every couple of months, which leads
me to think that it's about time for an SGI/IRIX FAQ compendium. I might
consider volunteering to put one together, if people would be willing to
(1) send me suggestions on what ought to be included, and (2) send examples
of what they consider the "best" answers which people have posted.

On second thought, I think I'd need at least one co-volunteer, since I don't
really feel competent to handle the graphics questions. I'll deal with the
remainder (i.e. the UNIXoid stuff).

Note that we'd also need a few volunteers to serve as reviewers, to be sure
that the "official" answers to FAQs don't have some stupid misinformation
in them.

Does anyone else think that this is worth doing?
