sendmail.cf and routing

I have a sendmail.cf question: I would like to change my sendmail.cf so
that mail to hosts not in my /etc/hosts file is routed through a computer
that is in a *different* domain than the one I'm in. Is that a fairly
simple change? The system at present works well when I route thru a
machine with the same domain as my own. But, simply changing the DF
and CF lines in sendmail.cf to point to the machine outside my domain
results in infinite loops trying to forward to the forwarder via the
forwarder.... Not pretty. I'm running 3.3.2 on a 4D/20. This is a
somewhat pressing question, as the forwaredr I normally use is
dead in the water for >~1 week. Replies will get thru to the
address below. Thanks VERY much for any help.
