mixing 3.3 and 4.X within a local net?

Has anyone out there tried mixing 3.3 with 4.X ? -- i.e. a 3.3 Sun-3
*homogenous* server (NFS & YP master) serving a bunch of Sun-3
diskless/dataless nodes while on the *same* net you've a 4.0 Sun-4
*homogenous* server (NFS & YP slave) serving a bunch of Sun-4 diskless
nodes.  I'll be interested to know.
