At SIGGRAPH there was a third-party software company in the Sun Booth that
was demoing Fax software for the Sun. The name of the company is The
Bristol Group and they are out of Londonderry, NH, USA. Their technique
is to use the Everex Fax modem hooked to an RS-232 port. They provide two
types of software: server software to control the modem and user software
for "Fax composition, filing, searching, and viewing". (The filing and
searching stuff could be interesting but from the literature I can't tell
what it means.) One server with modem can be used by multiple
workstations. The sofware runs in OpenWindows and SunView on Sun-3s,
Sun-4s and Sun-386i's. The software licenses float.
