If you are running 3.X and have had problems with network disk timeout and
very high activity on the drive or drives with network disk partitions, this
adb patch for the kernel may help.

    ndutimer ? W 8

All it does is extend the timeout factor from 2 (the default) to 8.

Assuming nothing is wrong but that your system has exprienced a short burst
of very high activity on the network disk, you may experience a timeout.
Unfortunately, the response of the client machines to a timeout is to
RETRY THE OPERATION which makes a bad situation even worse.
