We've had a Sony "Big MO" drive for a few months. It has the advantages of being very fast for reads, so we can use it to archive copies of things which need to be spun to tape often. The writes are painfully slow,` however. Our experience using it as a removable-media drive is limited; we've had trouble getting replacement platters.
