Full colour X11 on SUN

We are desperately trying to get X11R4 running on the SUN 4/330GXP.  As
SUN is not porting OpenWindows to this machine (WHY!?) we have resorted to
trying the MIT "cfb" code. Has anyone done this? or has anyone ever ported
X11 onto any full colour (24bit) frame buffer?

Failing that, has anyone found a reasonably cheap framebuffer to use
instead of the CG9/GP2. We have looked at Megatek, who promise a full
colour version of their X-elerator board (soon honest).

What are these rumours about a new full colour sparcstation 1 ??  Please
