Serving a diskless SLC from a DECsystem 5810

We have diskless SPARCstation SLC with SunOS 4.1 and a DECsystem 5810
running Ultrix 3.1C, which should serve the Suns.

I created a diskless client on an existing Sun and copied the swap-file
and the root- and /usr-partitions to the DECsystem. Bootparams still come
from the other Sun. Now I can boot and run the SLC except for 2 (minor)
problems:

   - ldconfig in /etc/rc.local dumps core:
        Bus error (core dumped)
   - I get many messages from cron:
        last message repeated 126949 times
cron: error reading message: Is a directory
(BTW, the message does not come from any program started in cron,
      the crontab is empty).

Are there any fixes for this? Maybe it's fixed in SunOS 4.1.1?
