Simple Parallel I/O with the SCSI Bus

I am building a simple functional tester for digital IC's. I would like
to use the SCSI port on a Sun 3/60 as a simple bidirectional 8-bit
parallel port. Can anybody give me some ideas on the easiest way to do
this? The device will be the only one on the SCSI bus, so it would be nice
if I could somehow avoid all of the bus arbitration complexities. Also, I
was wondering what kind of software would be necessary to access the port
at such a low level.

If this proves to be too difficult, then I will probably design an SBus
card for a SPARC. In this case, would I have to write a device driver, or
is there a simpler way to access an SBus card?
