Our site currently has Sun's FORTRAN ("f77") version 1.2 running. Our
system administrators are considering installing 1.3.1. We are running
SunOS 4.1.

I have already noticed some differences between version 1.2 and its
predecessor. In addition, I was at a place which had 1.3.1 up and noticed
some annoying bugs. I would like to put together a list of known bugs and
annoying differences between versions[*] in order to allow us here to make
an informed decision about whether to upgrade.

Therefore, a request to the network:

Please send me ( mckenney at cs.nyu.edu ) E-mail with a description of any
problems, bugs, and annoying changes in version 1.2 and 1.3.1 of the Sun
FORTRAN system. This includes compiler, library, run-time system, and
anything else involved in compiling and running a FORTRAN program. I will
compile whatever I get in the next 3-4 weeks and post the results.

   I repeat: ***PLEASE SEND E-MAIL***, don't post.

Send stuff to "mckenney at cs.nyu.edu"

[*] "annoying differences" or "... changes" means changes in the
behavior of the FORTRAN system which break code that used to run
under the old version, even if the new behavior conforms with the
    ANSI standard.
