X-Windows IPC

How does everybody out here do IPC between X-Windows tasks. Do you:

	- Use IPC queues?
	- Use Unix domain sockets?
	- Use ethernet sockets?
	- Use files?
	- Use Pipes?
	- Use Client Events?
	- Not allow your tasks to talk?

I like the socket idea but am concerned with speed and data lose. In our
environment we need to be able to not loose data if the task reading the
queue (socket) dies and is restarted.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,
	Jim
