VME adaptor + SPARCstation 1+

We have been forced, due to Suns infinite wisdom to convert from the Sun 3
line to the SPARCstations. The problem is that we are heavily based in
VME. 5+ Gigabytes of memory, Image processing boards, array processors,
etc. Sun suggested that we go with the SPARCstation 1+ with VME
converters on them because the VME buses days are numbered. So we have to
look into how well converters work and how robust they are. I fully
expect a degredation in performance, but the big question is how much.
There has been some fight over whether the S-bus is really the bus of the
future. At this point, we are totally confused. Does anyone else have
experience with this conversion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
