GKS help wanted

I have recently been attempting to install GKS in the Mathematics
Department. I am able to compile all the source programs, but hvae not
been able to get any of the examples to work.

I am able to create executable modules for the C examples (ex##.c,
star.c). However, they do not produce the expected output. For example,

	meade at neumann-113> ex01
SunGKS: Couldn't get shared memory: Invalid argument
Be sure that your kernel is configured for shared memory
	gkstool: can't start input
SunGKS: Couldn't get shared memory: Invalid argument
Be sure that your kernel is configured for shared memory
*** GKS window appears on screen for ~1 second ***
	SunGKS: can't start input
SunGKS: Can't create a new surface
Error 26 in function: Open Workstation
	Specified workstation cannot be opened.
Error 6 in function: Activate Workstation

	Error 5 in function: Polyline

*** delay of ~5 seconds before next messages appear ***
Error 3 in function: Deactivate Workstation

Any ideas about what I need to change to get this to run properly?

A more pressing concern is the FORTRAN examples (duck.f, iron.f). These do
not create executable modules; the loader is unable to locate a symbol
with the name do_lio. For example,

	meade at neumann-146> f77 -I/p2/gks/include duck.f /p2/gks/lib/libgks77.a
/p2/gks/lib/libgks.a -lsuntool -lsunwindow -lpixrect -lm -o duck
	duck.f:
	 MAIN fortduck:
	ld: Undefined symbol
	   _do_lio
	meade at neumann-147>

I have been unable to locate any archive with do_lio. Can anybody inform
me of the source for such a symbol? Once I am able to create will I have
the same difficulties as with the C examples? I am running SunOS4.1 on a
Sun 3/360. If you need further information concerning my setup, please
ask. I do not read this group, so please respond via e-mail.

Thanks in advance,
