A Sun, Mac, and Laserwriter Problem

Can *you* help?

We have a Mac II with an ethernet board and a couple of Suns all sharing
the same Laserwriter. At the moment we use physical circuit switching
under manual control (ie. the printer DIP switches) to multiplex the
printer between the Mac (using the AppleTalk i/f) and the Suns (using a
9600 baud serial line).

There must be a better way... Can anyone tell me what it is?

Is there software available for the Mac which uses the lpd protocol to
talk to the Suns and can spool print jobs?

Please don't make a poor software engineer touch *hardware*... Who knows
what might happen? Mail your slick software solution to me, and I'll
summarise to the net.
