Sun 4/360 ethernet board problem

Our Sun 4/360 (4.1) server has a problem. We have talked to Sun about it,
but no luck so far. In fact, they are not even sure if it is the hardware
or the software. This server was upgraded from a Sun 3/160, but when we
had it upgraded the ethernet board 'ie1' stayed. It would not 'ifconfig'
until the Sun technician changed some jumpers. Now the ethernet interface
seems to work ok, but it does give us the following every so often on the
console:

spurious VME interrupt at processor level 5
VME level 3, VME vector 0xffffffff

when running 'etherfind -i ie1 -broadcast'
it works for a while, then............

Any ideas of what might be wrong? Do we need another ethernet board?  Or
is there some fix we can do to the kernel?
