SCCS Problem, SUN -> MIPS

We are seeing some severe problems using SCCS from Sun machines using a
MIPS file server over NFS.  Has anyone else seen this problem and know if
there is a workaround?  Part of the problem (at least) seems to be related
to the difference between the ways the SunOS and MIPS OS handle groups and
group privileges.
