Ahh, but what he meant was that if you had local root, you can change
your own UID and GID to one able to modify or read everyone elses'
files except those with a root owner and only owner rw priveledges. Of
course, you can export it read-only with most NFS's but mail doesn't
really work then...

NFS 4.0 may have provided a fix for this, but I don't remember
offhand...
