Trouble with hostname

Sounds like you aren't getting the /bin/hostname program, which is very
simple and just sets a global var in the kernel.  The error message sounds
to me like an ftp one.  Do an explicit "/bin/hostname", then do
"what /bin/hostname" and make sure it says "hostname.c" somewhere.  My
guess is you've got a link or an alias set up.
