That may be true, but...

...that's not true.  (Ignoring issues of branches,) RCS stores the
latest version and backwards deltas, and SCCS stores, if you will,
"interleaved" deltas - it stores the lines of all versions of the file,
with control lines saying "the following lines first appear in this
delta, and disappear in that delta" and the like.  SCCS does *not* store
the first version and a bunch of deltas to make later version.
