Memory mapped files (in C) on RS/6000

I've been unable to get memory mapped files to work on the 6000 within
a C program.  

>From what I've read in the info manuals, I need to do an openx()
followed by a shmat().  However, I'm not sure what to use as the
'extension' parameter for the openx call.

Does anyone have a working example they could post or send me?
