Aix/R6000 info wanted

workstations. Naturally I'd like to find out the experiences
of real users of the R6000 line of machines. In particular

1) How Unix-like is AIX? Is it close to BSD Unix or what? Can
one easily port programs from the BSD environment to AIX?

2) I've heard rumours that while these machines can really
steam along in single user mode they can have problems serving
a large number of users at once. The planned 550 would be supporting
8 to 10 users doing heavy duty number crunching.
Any truth to these rumours?

3) What is the quality of the FORTRAN compiler?

4) Are people satisfied with IBM tech support re software
problems?
