The "standard" behavior of AIX is not RFC compliant. RFC 1034 specifies 
the search algorithm to look "rootward". If the host can not be found
in the current domain, i.e., if "vm.di.nrc.ca" can't be found, then 
"vm.nrc.ca" should be tried, etc. IBM has indicated that this will be
fixed in a future release (DIR 4X885).
