X11R4 and AUX - comment and question

Hello,
First a comment: the option "-m ###" in the call to bsdinst.sh
causes install to fail. install does not have the -m option. I
just removed this flag from being passed to install. There is
probably a better solution.

Second a problem: After everything was compiled with gcc from
apple.com and then installed. I made the changes to /usr/bin/X11/X11R4
to use the full pathnames. When I issue the X11R4 command, a debug.log
file was created with:

Getting interface configuration: Can't assign requested address

   Fatal Server bug:
   ioctl I_STR_VIDEO_MAP_SLOT failed
XIO: fatal IO error 32 (Broken Pipe) on X server "#?"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining
The connection was probably broken by a server shutdown or KillClient.

The X server name display was actually and upside down '?'.
This seems to be a bad problem, so I probably did some part of the
installation incorrectly. Everything seems OK with the MakeLog file.
I am using an Apple color card (8-bit). X11R3 worked fine before.

Has anyone seen this problem or could offer some hints to solve it ?

Thank you for help,
