Just a wild guess, but did you kill & restart sendmail after you
changed /etc/hosts?
"0x7F.0x00.0x00.0x01 intacc loop lo loo" should do the trick.

   -gethostname(2) reports intacc

How about getpeername(2)? (This (perhaps) requires somewhat more work,
as you'd have to build somekind of a network server...)
