Try this out on your system and tell me what happens:
1. Login on the console as any user except root.
2. Create a new virtual terminal.
3. /bin/su as root.
4. cu another system.
5. Close the connection.
6. Kill the process as root.
7. Close the virtual terminal.
8. Try to reopen the virtual terminal.
When I do this on my system cu removes read privys from /dev/vt01, if I am
using virtual terminal #1. After I leave as root, somehow root still owns
the virtual terminal. So when I close it as user, I cannot reopen it as
user.
I am running AT&T SVR 3.2u. Has anyone else seen this problem?
