SLIP without kernel modification

Is there a way to speak SLIP to a remote machine, if you do
not have the possibility to rebuild the kernel with a
slip-driver in it? I've RTFM to find out, whether there's
a way to feed raw IP packets to a host, but nothing...

Any suggestions?
