vi, yes; emacs, no

Dyna 386 with Microport 3.0e.1

Strange, strange, strange! I have this machine, et130, connected to a
3B2/400, mccc, via a short-haul modem at 9600 bps. The only problem I
have is when I try to edit a file remotely using emacs -- the screen
gets gaps and redrawing it doesn't help. This does not happen when I
use vi! (!!!) Screen edits seem to be perfect.

Anyone have any idea why these two editors should behave differently? I
should point out that there is no difference when I call mccc from a PC
(running MSDOS) using a Telebit Trailblazer at 19200 or 9600 bps! (!!!)

If I use AT386 as my TERM value on the Dyna, what should I use on mccc?
I.e., where can I get a corresponding terminfo entry? Oh, maybe I can
infocmp the 386 one???

Thanks for the help. See you at Trenton Computer Festival.

Pete
