You need to get Emacs - and run the vi eumlation package (vip.el). I'm a
vi fanatic from way-back - but now I've converted... It took a few hacks
to the Lisp source (vip.el) to get exactly like I wanted, but I can make it
do what ever I want too. Multiple windows, unlimited undo, compile from
withing the editor, mail interface (sending and receiving), Usenet news reader,
and on and on ... All in one package!!! (Oh yea - and Xwindow support).
