Streaming Tape Use Under Simul-Task (Sys V R3.2.1)

I've had so much success with getting questions answered here, that I
thought I'd try again!

I have a Wangtek 125MB streaming tape unit in my AT&T 6386-20 (Olivetti)
and it works just fine under UNIX. I've yet to figure out how to
make it work successfully under Simul-Task, however. It DOES work
fine under native DOS, too.

I tried configuring it with IEM, and could make it do some things, such
as retension and rewind. But to use it to do backups of the DOS
partitions, or to read an archive tape were totally unsuccessful.

If anyone can shed some light on how to make it work, I'll be most
grateful (assuming it's even *possible* to make it work under
Simul-Task!).

Thanks in advance.
