DOS under ESIX

We have just installed ESIX Rev D on a 386 PC. We would like to run DOS
in a UNIX window. The ESIX manual claims that ESIX supports two layered
products: (1) VP/ix from Phoenix Technologies and ISC and (2) Simul-task
386 from AT&T.
The company who sold me ESIX never sold a DOS-under-UNIX product. I then
called ISC, but the salesperson (who did not seem very knowledgeable)
claimed their VP/ix would not work with ESIX. I also called AT&T and got
the usual billion $$ company bureaucracy - couldn't even get a proper
salesperson. Amazing.
My question is - does anyone on the net have ESIX Rev D and either of
these products? Could anyone offer opinions about which would be
preferable? Our applications include astronomical imaging where we need
256 colors at 800x600 and co-processor support if possible.
One other small question - the only way we have found for switching the
boot-up OS from DOS to UNIX (and vice-versa) is to boot DOS from a
floppy, run FDISK and change the primary partition. Is there a better
way?
Thanks,
