Wanted: simple TCP socket handler

Sorry if these were the wrong groups to post to, but I
couldn't think of other categories this request would fall
into...

Before I go running off and re-invent the wheel, I'd like
to ask the general unix programming community: are there
relatively complete server-client communications packages
based on TCP/IP sockets? The kind of thing I am looking
for is a library with a simple user interface for allowing
connections, disconnections and reconnections of clients
from servers via sockets.

Please send e-mail, and if there is any interest I'll
post the results that I get.

Thanks in advance...
