386/ix, 43 line mode

Is there a simple way to set EGA 43 line mode in 386/ix??

display(7) has all of these ioclts for testing, setting etc.
and kd.h has tons of stuff along these lines. However the kd.h
is not very well documented.

I am trying to do the SWAPEGA ioctl, and get errno 22 (invalid
argument). Is the 43 line mode only in the Xenix compatibility
stuff? I once read Xenix has a command (called vidi, I believe)
for setting this mode. I linked in Xenix, and still got errno 22.

If anyone wants my attempts, they're welcome to them. I imagine my
question is common knowledge, and if so just email to me directly.

Tom
