Need afio pgm source

Anyone out there have a version of a program to allow the 
reading of damaged cpio archives (mainly on tape).  I think
I remember something about a program - afio - that allowed
you to skip bad headers, and sync on the first good header it
finds.  Anyone got afio, or an equivalent - I dont want to 
reinvent the wheel.  I don't have anon ftp.  With proper info,
I could uucp it, or just have it mailed to me piece by peice.
Thanks in advance.

BTW: I'm emailing Rich Salz to see if he happens to have this
archived from sources.unix.  I've posted also since he is a busy 
person, and may not be able respond as quickly as someone who
does not administer an archive.
